Find useful advice about spanish words – Many people are afraid to speak in another language and have difficulty doing it with confidence. For auditory learners, it may be a piece of cake, but for many it is hard. They worry that they will make mistakes, or mispronounce things, or sound silly. And yes, all of those things might just happen! The most important thing is how you deal with it. What’s the worst that could happen? 1) Don’t worry about making mistakes. If you make a mistake or use the wrong word, you might be mistaken. Then the person you are speaking to will ask you again. You can think about it, and try again! No problema! 2) Don’t worry about mispronouncing things. You have huge advantages; I have been teaching you most of the words you know! You also know how Spanish letters and words are pronounced, as it is a pretty easy language to pronounce, and you have a very good chance of pronouncing things correctly. If you don’t, the context will probably tell the person what you are trying to say, and they can guess. If not, you can try again! No problema! 3) You will not sound silly if you try to speak another language, even to a native speaker; you will sound like someone who is trying hard, who respects this language, and who is showing good manners in trying to use it. It may be a new experience for you, but it certainly isn’t a silly one. It is a brave thing to do, and you should feel good about every attempt you make. It is certainly more admirable to try to speak Spanish than to insist on English and not even try! So again, no hay problema. So, now that those worries are out of the way, how can you give yourself the best chance of speaking Spanish well, and feeling good about it? Well, think about some other things you feel confident doing in front of others. Is it playing golf, or tennis? Hitting a ball out of the park? Baking the best muffins in town? Singing at a karaoke night? Getting the prettiest lady to dance with you? Presenting your latest research to the boss? What is it about that situation that makes you feel confident? Most likely, you know what you are doing/talking about, and it is not your first time doing it publicly. So, how can this idea help you with your Spanish speaking? If you want to feel confident about your Spanish speaking ability:

Listen carefully.

Separate the words you are hearing and how they are said.

Think about the different sounds that make up the word. Be sure that you know all the sounds in Spanish, especially the ones that are not in English. (Have you got those rrrrrrrrs yet?)

Listen carefully to how words are sometimes blended together (“un poco” sounds like “umpoco” in Spanish, for example)

Listen to the rhythm of Spanish and how it flows up and down

Speak out loud when you are practicing. This is very important. Speaking in your head is not as useful as speaking aloud. Speaking aloud forces the sounds, which can feel strange to you, out of your mouth. This can help you to get over the “feeling silly” stage, and help your mouth get used to the different ways it needs to move to pronounce Spanish correctly.
